As a member of the UK Reiki Federation I adhere to their comprehensive code of ethics and standards of practice. The Reiki Client Information & Consent form to be completed at your first appointment constitutes a Contract and this is the lawful basis under which I hold and use your information. The details you provide consist of personal contact and medical details (obtained at our first consultation) and ongoing notes which will be taken after each subsequent consultation. This information allows me to provide you with the best possible treatment and fulfils the legal obligations to my insurance company and governing body. As part of these obligations your details are held for a period of 7 years after our last consultation.

I will not share your information with anyone else (except within my own practice or when it is required for legal process) without explaining why it is necessary and getting your explicit consent. I am committed to safeguarding your personal data and to this end have put in place appropriate technical, physical and administrative procedures to protect the information you entrust me with.

As part of the GDPR (the EU General Data Protection Regulation) you have certain rights, including the right to be informed (to know how your information will be held and used); the right of access (to see your therapist’s records of your personal information, so you know what is held about you and can verify it), the right to rectification (to tell your therapist to make changes to your personal information if it is incorrect or incomplete) and the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (to be able to complain to the ICO if you feel your details are not correct, if they are not being used in a way that you have given permission for, or if they are being stored when they don’t have to be).
